Gold is at an all-time high. The US dollar is shrinking against every currency in the world. President Obama's poll numbers are falling from his post-election heights. Two wars, the health care battles, a battered economy, and his negro heritage are shaking the confidence of swing voters in his ability to lead us through the current storm to safer water and on this Tuesday a crucial senate election will served as a bellwether for his future.
All eyes are on Massachusetts, where the Mary Coakley, the State AG, and GOP hopeful Scott Brown are contesting Edward Kennedy's vacated seat. A loss could cost the Democrats their super-majority in Congress and the opposing parties are campaigning hard and furious for the undecided voters of the Bay State.
Heavyweights such as Bill Clinton and ex-governor Milt Romney have appeared in behalf of their candidates, however President Barack Obama has yet to show his face in my home state. Scott Brown, once regarded one of the 100 sexiest men in America, has warned the president to stay away from the fray.
“The machine is coming out of the woodwork to get her elected. They’re bringing in outsiders, and we don’t need them.”
More like he doesn't need them.
The race is tighter than expected by pundits and a presidential foray could help the Democratic contender, but the present crisis in Haiti rightly has seized the attention of the president and sometimes a good politician knows when to stay out of a fight, especially in the only state to vote for George McGovern in 1972.
My one vote that year went for him too.
So get out there and vote my fellow Massholes.
