Alain Pacadis led the gay scene in Paris along with friends Marie France, Paquita Paquin, Claude Aurenson, and the owners of le Sept and Palace. He wrote for various newspapers and magazines in the French capitol. I met him at the Bains-Douches, where I worked as the physionomiste. Friends joked that the unwashed journalist was the ugliest man on Earth, although Serge Gainsbourg argued that point, saying to a beautiful woman, "Yes, I am ugly and you are young and beautiful, but one day you be old and I will still be ugly."
The soiled star of punk and new wave explored the underground like a mole with smeared glasses shielding his pinned pupils. Pacadis was accepted everywhere in the nightlife, although his favorite haunt was Le Privilege under La Palace on rue Montmatre. He ran with young boys. I was always surprised that they sought his favor. finally he ended up with a lovely transvestite. Their affair was tempestous and dangerous.
One morning he was found dead in his apartment.
His lover was accused of murder.
He was cremated at the Pere Lachaise Cemetery.
It was the place to be.
And Pacadis always knew those places.
His novel UN BONNE HOMME CHIC sells well to this day.
