Amagansett

Amangansett is the last beach community on Long Island before Montauk.

The European community was established in 1630.

Amagansett derives its name from the Montaukett name for "place of good water" from a water source near what today is Indian Wells beach.

Long Island was formed from the sediment of the glaciers of the last Ice Age.

Montauk had been an island.

Napeague connects the two.

The year-round population is mostly white.

Lou Reed from the Velvet Underground died there in 2013

It's a good place for a swim.
