Weekends End - Montauk

This is how I end my weekend The 5:18 from Montauk. It has been a quiet ride through April and May. Three hours of looking out the window at the passing bays into suburbia. Then Memorial Day. The beginning of summer for the hoi polloi. This trip back began with a discourse on eternity to the conductors. We know each other. At Easthampton I ended with a moment of silence. They don't charge me to ride. Train stops. People get on. More than before. Drunken men-bots. Excited Woman-bots. Loud. Shouting. Tomorrow. Monday. Back at work. Silence. I move to another car. A short refuge. Annoyed I put in my ear plugs. German. Near silence. I want to go Karen and complain. What's the use? The boys get off at Patchogue. Peace and quiet to Jamaica. Sun setting to the West. I take out the earplugs. Wave good bye to the conductors and listen to the trains. All the engines 20th Century. Heaven__
