I woke up this morning to Tom Russell singing his elegy to Dave Van Ronk.
Tom Russell's paean to this mythic village icon stirred my soul to tears and I sat looking out my window remembering times when the world was not filled by plastic, cars, and a dearth of dreams. The link to VAN RONK is for a live song.
His words reanimated the late Pope of MacDougal Street. His songs, his friends, his apartment, the times. Tom Russell sings that Van Ronk's best quotes came while passed out on his sofa. He would force Phil Ochs, Bob Dylan, and Tom Rush.
