Poland ties to the Catholic Church are deeply steeped in history. The last pope was from that country. The religion has dictated the rules of society for centuries, however its grip on Poland slipped a notch with the election of a Transvestite MP to the parliament.
The 57 year-old Anna Grodzka is a member of the anti-clerical party, which won 10% of the vote. They stand for legalization of marijuana, gay marriage, and abortion. The vast majority of their support came from the youth vote.
"The young wanted a modern Poland, a Poland open to variety, a Poland where all people would feel good regardless of their differences. I cannot fail them in their expectations."
