Inspiration Point
The photo is of Inspiration Point at Yellowstone Park.
At one time access to the razor sharp cornice was permissible. It's been prohibited for years, but people are drawn to the danger and in 1999 I arrived to the scenic vista overlooking Yellowstone Falls at dawn. That time of day there were no tourists at the viewing area and I climbed over the protective railing to walk out on that narrow promontory. The width was about two feet. I didn't look down until I reached the end. All around me was air and I realized that the proper name for this jutting rock was Terrification Point. I turned around and inched back to safety.
Inspiration indeed.
