Arizona's senate race sloshed into the sun-dried gutter with JD Hayworth's poster depicting John McCain as an extra in the blockbuster film AVATAR with the banner Nominee for Best Conservative Actor under the photo. The senator's re-election staff asked for the Hayworth campaign to withdraw the ad, however his spokesperson flatly refused to take such an action.
"We respectfully decline the request and would encourage Senator McCain to get a sense of humor. After all, if Sunday's show did have an award for best election year flip-flopping and transparent conservative conversion, the incumbent would surely win the Oscar."
Hayworth, a decorated Eagle Scout, had personally taunted the 'maverick' senator by calling his a 'weenie' on his Arizona-based radio show.
A bad week for McCain who was reminded by President Obama in the Health Care summit that he had not been elected president.
"I am aware of that every day." John McCain joked to the laughter of his peers.
JD Hayworth didn't think that was funny, but neither was Sara Palin's support of her old running mate.
