Hordes of Brood X cicadas havve lain dormant underground since 2004 and are predicted to emerge from their seven year slumber in the next few weeks across fifteen states in the Northeast. Billions if not trillions of the larvae are now burrowing up from the earth. Upon emerging the larvae will shed their skins to become adults.
The Brood X swarm will give birth to the Brood Y generation of 2038, then die off leaving the memory of the male songs to the residents of Delaware, Illinois, Georgia, Indiana, New York, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Michigan as well as in Washington, D.C.
Insects are a delicacy in Thailand. No one in America eats them, but maybe I'll deep-fry some this Spring. The go good with beer.
