Le Libertie des Temps Passe

In the summer of 1985 our gang opened a nightclub in the old port of Nice, France.

Jacques, Albert, Serge, and I rode along the Corniche in Albert's Chrysler Imperial. We swam at the rocky beach beneath the Promenade des Anglais and dined on bouillabaisse at the Nautique. The gangsters of Nice wanted to sell heroin in our club. Serge told them no. They said we would change our mind.

The next day we met with some heavy-weight thugs from Paris' Sentier at Juan-les-Pins. They suggested that we close the club. It was near the end of the season and we agreed. I have my photo taken on the topless beach. One showed two women without tops.

I posted the fotos of Antibes and nice on Facebook.

The computer recognized the breasts and nipples.

My account was closed for three days.

What a bunch of squares.

At least I wasn't publicly shamed by the Facebook anti-nudity squad, but I imagined a room in a high-tech office, where millenials spend all day searching for other violators of community standards without ever challenging hate-mongers or bullies.

Oh for the the beaches of the Cote d'Azur.

Freedom.

Go For It KIDNAP ZUCKENBERG

The economy is in the shitter. Billionaires are worshipped as gods. The masses are cowered by their desire to be wealthy. Last week according to yahoo.com Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg reaped a gain of nearly $2.3 billion last year when he exercised 60 million stock options just before the online social networking leader's initial public offering. I have about $500 in the bank. Less tomorrow after I send money to my kids for the new school year in Thailand. But we could all become rich by kidnapping Mark Zuckerberg for an afternoon. Every hour of his life is worth $365,000. Holding him for three hours would net the kidnappers $1 million for the realization of the 'trickle down theory' to really work in favor of the poor. Better yet would be to grab the Brothers Koch. Those two scumbags are worth billions.

Pink Equal Signs

Millions of facebook users have changed their profile photo to a pink equal sign to show their support for gay/lesbian/whatever marriage equality. The GOP and Supreme Court have refused to accept that their version of America no longer is accepted by the majority. One day and one day soon they will have to accede to the inevitable like General Custer at the Litel Big Horn. "Where did all those gays come from?" "From straight parents." And ain't that the truth.

Yet Another Facebook Hoax

We are suckers for thinking that we are smart enough to fool the machine and this weekend thousands if not millions of facebook users posted the following warning in hopes of protecting their privacy. "In response to the new Facebook guidelines I hereby declare that my copyright is attached to all of my personal details, illustrations, comics, paintings, professional photos and videos, etc. (as a result of the Berner Convention). For commercial use of the above my written consent is needed at all times! (Anyone reading this can copy this text and paste it on their Facebook Wall. This will place them under protection of copyright laws. By the present communiqué, I notify Facebook that it is strictly forbidden to disclose, copy, distribute, disseminate, or take any other action against me on the basis of this profile and/or its contents. The aforementioned prohibited actions also apply to employees, students, agents and/or any staff under Facebook's direction or control. The content of this profile is private and confidential information. The violation of my privacy is punished by law (UCC 1 1-308-308 1-103 and the Rome Statute). Facebook is now an open capital entity. All members are recommended to publish a notice like this, or if you prefer, you may copy and paste this version. If you do not publish a statement at least once, you will be tacitly allowing the use of elements such as your photos as well as the information contained in your profile status updates." Snopes.com debunked the validity of this posting and suggested that people chill out about their privacy since most facebook members tell all and say all, but if they are truly concerned about this issue, there are three remedies; 1. Do not subscribe to Facebook 2. Bilaterally negotiate a modified policy of privacy with Facebook 3. Cancel your Facebook account My course of action is to do nothing and pretend that nothing I am is of interest to anyone other than myself. No commercial value, no sell-out - James Steele

Rope Obama

This past June Pastor Terry Jones of the Dove World Outreach Center hung Obama in Effigy in front of his Gainesville FLA church in retaliation for the president's views on same-sex marriage. The countless calls for the lynching of Obama slither on the internet from hate groups and citizens incensed by the rise of socialism in the land of the Free. Yesterday an image floated onto Facebook transforming Obama's 'Hope' poster into "Rope' showing him hanging by the neck. Thousands of us called from the removal of this offensive image and Facebook reacted to a petition against the photo by pulling it from whatever site generated this overtly racist pitch to the radical white right. According to Wikipedia lynching is the practice of killing people by extrajudicial mob action. It was almost a sport in the South during the last century with organized crowds storming jails and black houses to seize prisoners, accused criminals, or innocent men to enforce segregation of the races. Republicans supported an anti-lynching law in the 20s, while Southern White Democrats filibustered against such a measure as a curtailment of State's Rights. Millions of blacks fled the reign of terror creating the future voting blocs for politicians siding with equality of racism, but in 1921 blacks resisted the lynching of a young man and a white man was shoot in the street. Whites in that city retaliated by burning down black Tulsa. The Klu KLux Klan led the way for lynchings throughout the 20th Century. The numerous photos of these atrocities are worsened by the gleeful expressions of the white spectators posing around the hanging bodies and I suppose that there are thousands of white Americans viewing the above photo with the same simian smile on face of those men in the photo below. Calling for the murder of the president is a crime. It is not a joke.
