Who Done It

Violent protests against the film trailer INNOCENCE OF MUSLIMS continue to plague the Muslim world and US officials have attempted to find out who made the incendiary fourteen-minute movie that resulted in the death of the US ambassador to Libya along with two of his fellow countrymen. The blame has shifted from a fictitious filmmaker to a far-right Christian group called Media For Christ, which had filed for a film shot on a Paramount set. Police are questioning its anti-Islamic president, Joseph Nassralla, but a spokesman of Media For Christ swore that the charity had nothing to do with the movie. Ex-film student Karam El Masry has yet to be interrogated by the LAPD. No one wants to admit their involvement with this horrid film and I doubt anyone will come forward to claim responsibility. They live in the shadows and have retreated back into them, leaving behind some sucker to hold the bag. And it won't be Sam Bacile.

Behind It All

I was in Brooklyn the LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A Southern California filmmaker linked to an anti-Islamic movie inflaming protests across the Middle East was interviewed by federal probation officers at a Los Angeles sheriff's station but was not arrested or detained, authorities said early Saturday. Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, 55, was interviewed at the station in his hometown of Cerritos, Calif., Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Don Walker said. Federal officials are investigating whether Nakoula, who has been convicted of financial crimes, has violated the terms of his five-year probation. If so, a judge could send him back to prison. Nakoula went voluntarily to the station early Saturday morning, wearing a coat, hat, scarf and glasses that concealed his appearance. It is unclear whether he returned to his home, which has been besieged by media for several days. The probation department is reviewing the case of Nakoula, who pleaded no contest to bank fraud charges in 2010 and was banned from using computers or the Internet or using false identities as part of his sentence. Federal authorities have identified Nakoula, a self-described Coptic Christian, as the key figure behind "Innocence of Muslims," a film denigrating Islam and the Prophet Muhammad that ignited mob violence against U.S. embassies across the Middle East. Much of the film was shot inside the offices of Media for Christ, a nonprofit based in the Los Angeles-area city of Duarte. The charity raised more than $1 million last year "to glow Jesus' light" to the world. The Riverside County man who was a script advisor to the film and who has a long history of anti-Islamic activism told the Press-Enterprise newspaper that he has received multiple death threats. "I'm really tired," Steven Klein said when he answered the door of his home in Hemet, Calif., Friday with a pistol in his hand and clad only in a pair of white shorts stained with what appeared to be ink spots. The newspaper said Klein, a Vietnam veteran, appeared agitated. While waving the gun, he told the newspaper he was standing up for his First Amendment rights in helping with the film and said he is prepared to die for those rights. A federal law enforcement official said authorities had connected Nakoula to a man using the pseudonym of Sam Bacile who claimed earlier to be writer and director of the film. Violent protests set off by the film in Libya played a role in mob attacks in Benghazi that killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other American officials. Demonstrations against American missions have since spread to several other countries.

Good Man Down

Yesterday mobs swept over the walls of the US embassies in Egypt and Libya. The crowds were enraged by an amateurish film insulting the Prophet Mohammad. Security forces were able to drive back the two thousand protestors in Cairo, but US consulate and safe house in Benghazi was overrun by attackers. The building was set on fire and the ambassador and three other American diplomats died in the frenzied attack. Christopher Stevens had been instrumental in assisting the anti-Khaddafi forces gain the upper hand against the dictator and the death of this good man and his compatriots is a loss for America and the world. I have seen a trailer of THE INNOCENCE OF MUSLIMS. Its laughable production has been twinned with a clearly incendiary attack on Islam. The film by Sam Bacile was supposedly made for $5 million financed by Jewish donors, but there was no way that is cost that much and as a hunchologist I think that the movie was a scam that the con artist never thought would see the light of day. A Google search of 'sam bacile' comes up empty other than references to yesterday's riots. President Obama expressed his condolences to the ambassador's family and vowed vengeance on his killers. His GOP opponent announced that Mr. Obama had disgraced America by apologizing for American values of free speech. The Republican candidate was joined in this sentiment by Florida Pastor, Terry Jones, who has scheduled a viewing of THE INNOCENCE OF MUSLIMS at his fundamentalist church, and Rep. Allan West (R) blame the president for supporting the Arab Spring overthrowing a number of dictators and then falsely stated that the US Embassy in Cairo had apologized for the film. "President Obama's policy of appeasement towards the Islamic world has manifested itself into a specter of unconscionable hatred." Senators McCain and Graham offered their sympathy and support to the freedom of the Arabs as well as expressing their confidence in our ability to get back at the killers. Most of the news agencies have reported that the mysterious Sam Bacile has gone into hiding. Probably more from his creditors, for he must have pocketed most of the money from his investors in Prophet 9 From Outer Space and now he has cost the lives of Americans. My thoughts are with the families. And that's all that Mitt Romney should have said at a moment like this. ps the guy in this photo is a goner.
