MTV and VH1 dismissed many 60s bands as one-hit wonders without ever really homaging these under-supported groups for having accomplished the nearly impossible task of breaking through the playlist of the radio stations to reach the Top 10 and few DJs would have given the Dutch band Shocking Blue a chance to reach # 1 in the USA with the super hit VENUS in 1967.
Shocking Blue were not one-hit wonders. The quartet out of the Hague sold over 13.5 million records before their break-up in 1973. I saw them at the Surf Nantasket in 1968. My friends and I danced to every song and the other day my underground radio online station played their classic flower-power song LOVE BUZZ and I was transported back to teenagedom.
A miracle and it can happen to you even if you were only an atom in your parents' body.
