Songapore First Impressions - 1990

In 1990 I flew from the jungled mountains of Sumatra to modern Singapore. I had carried my typewriter and day bag onto the plane, but when I reached the baggage carousel outside Changi Airport. There was no sign of my bag. None at all. I I went to baggage claim. They said my luggage would turn up and gave me money for a hotel and food and sundries. I left the terminal pissed off and then noticed an old Chinese man sitting a bag that resembled mine, because it was mine. I snatched it gently from underneath him and hailed a taxi. No, I didn't return the money and later received a check for my claim. I figured I deserved it for the psychic scarring.
