Blackout – Montauk # 37 - 202

Late November
Two hours past sunset
Ditch Plains
Montauk
Walking from a Joel’s house party
A black out
Power down
All lights out
Cold
No man light at all___
The stars above illuminate the Shagmoor bluff
30 degrees cold
A slight wind through the trees
THe rustle of bare branches
To the south below the bluff
Waves crash on the beach___
Overhead the Orion Nebula
1344 light years distance
From Earth___
My boots crunch on the path
Eyes adjust to starlight
Deers sneak through the undergrowth
Silent
Orion rising over the eastern horizon
Once I knew the names of the stars
I’ve been lost in too many cities
I've spent too many years in cities of bright lights

Blinded by the lights at night
I have lost my way
Through the stars
I am not a spaceman
But once I came close___
Summer 1962
A suburb south of Boston
A ten year-old boy
Behind a split-level ranch house
Painted pink
Past midnight
My family deep asleep
Every house in the neighborhood asleep
Dead quiet___
Out onto the back lawn
Naked
I lay on cut grass
Eyes straight up to the eternal night sky
Staring Bbeyond the bats
Hunting not orbiting Soviet satellites
But UFOs
Waiting for Aliens to abduct a naked boy
Ready
Willing
Able
To escape Earth and roam to the stars
With aliens from Space
To leave behind my shitty suburb
Forever
To wander the galaxy
With Aliens
As an Alien to all of them__
They never came that night or any night
And I cursed the stars and the suburbs and ET
Why didn’t you take me?
I want leave home____
To voyage to Orion and Betelgeuse and Rigel
The Brightest stars amongst countless stars overhead
Ah, the Cosmos___
Tonight in Montauk andlike then
I am alone
No UFOs
Only jets from JFK Europe Bound
West of Montauk
No extraterrestrials in the sky
Only millions of stars in a blackout
Boots crunch on the dirt
Waves crash on the beach
And___
Orion rules the stars
Partnered with Gemini and Taurus
In the winter sky
I’m happy to be here
Ditch Plains
On a path lit by starlight
Stuck on Earth
Ablue bright orb
In the quiet of Space
And south of me
The waves crash on the beach___

Venus Versus Mars

I was a UFO movie fanatic as kid. My friends and I thought that the Martians were ugly, but the invaders from Venus would be tall blondes in bikinis. We much preferred Venus to Mars. It was the planet of love and over the years I became a Star Trek devotee. All the series were good. All the crews were honorable. Not like STAR WARS, yet despite my affinity for the stars the aliens remained absent from Earth.

Can you blame them?

Earth's galactic address is East Bum Fuck, the Milky Way.

Still people see things in the sky.

Every year dozens of rural dwellers in the Texas dairy country report UFOs in the early evening sky. The US Air Force refute their claims saying that the object in question was actually 10 F-16s on a training mission. Not everyone are convinced by this disclosure.

"I guarantee that what we saw was not a civilian aircraft," Steve Allen, a pilot and freight company owner, said about the incident and several witnesses backed up his assertion about seeing F-16s chasing the UFO.

I did not see the UFO in the video. Only the planes, but back in 2007 in Pattaya I noticed several tall thin blonde men in white clothing and they didn't use any form of transport other than their feet.

Long and lean.

They didn't really walk like humans either.

I spotted two of them behind the Avenue Shopping Mall once and tried to speak with the odd-looking pair, but by the time I caught up with the pair they were gone.

Vanished into thin air.

I told my wife Mam about these ETs,

She thought I was going crazy again.

Better I tell her about ghosts.

That Thais can believe, but I swear that these strangers were aliens.

They showed no sweat in the mid-day sun and only women don't perspire in the tropical heat

Women glow.

Polar Vortex

In 1978 a historic blizzard blasted the East Coast. Boston was buried underneath three feet of snow. New York had two feet. Buffalo ceased to be a place of human habitation. We survived that storm.

The snow melted in the Spring and flowers bloomed in May.

No one is thinning about roses in America or Canada.

A polar vortex has descended across the continent.

Temperatures rival those in Antarctica.

-70 in International Falls.

Cold, but not close to absolute zero or −459.67° on the Fahrenheit scale.

This afternoon it was 10 degrees in Fort Greene.

I walked out of the house in my ski clothing.

My only exposure to the weather was my face.

The cold penetrated deep under my flesh.

Global Warming denialists crow about the cold weather.

The dunderheads must have never seen THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW.

Global warming is about extremes.

Extreme cold.

Extreme hot.

Extreme floods.

Extreme droughts.

Today 90% of the North American continent was below freezing.

i.e. Zero Celsius the point where water freezes to ice.

This evening I looked to the sky.

The stars shimmered in the cosmos.

I didn't notice any rapid movements of light, but I'm expecting the ETs to come back here pissed at our failure to maintain the terraforming of Earth.

Alien lizards do not like the cold.

I don't like the cold either.

I guess that comes from my alien genes.

We do like beer.

It's a universal trait.

HELP ET HELP

World leaders are increasingly concerned about the collapse of the global economy. No one has an answer to the global dilemma, mostly because the problems multiply every day. I personally have been looking to the sky for our redemption. Not in the form of angels blowing clarion horns, but UFOs piloted by ETs looking to pay retail for everything we have on Earth.

This is a wild dream, since our planet is located on the fringe of the galaxy far from the flow of interstellar traffic, however the universe is changing shape all the time and we can only hope that one day a fleet of entertainment-hungry aliens notice the third rock from the Sun.

Last month this hope was crushed by the sighting of a UFO flaming through the stratosphere over Russia.

Government officials claimed the phenomena was caused by a meteorite.

I know better.

It was a friendly mission from the farthest reaches of the stars. They wanted to buy SUVs at the going rate. McMansions too. Instead their spacecraft struck low-orbit debris and we watched its fall from grace with awe.

Oh, poor ET come to our home.

We Are Not Alone

Last week the National UFO ALERT Rating System has been updated April 4, 2013, with California, Florida, New York and Texas moving to a UFO Alert 3 as the highest reporting states during the month of March 2013, filed with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) according to Huffington Post. California had 59 sightings in March. New York had 30. I've never seen a UFO and I have looked for space ships since my youth. Sometimes I would lay on the back lawn. The grass wasn't as thick as the front yard, however our house shielded me from curious eyes and I watched the skies for any signs of extraterrestrial traffic. I was praying an alien might take me to Space. It had to be more interesting than my suburban hometown south of Boston. One night my father came out of the house. "What are you doing?" "Looking at the sky." "There are a lot of stars up there. No one knows how many?" "No one?" I thought Klattu and his robot Gort from THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL might have a good idea. "No one." My father believed in infinite space. "Not even God." I was only saying that to camouflage my puerile atheism "Maybe Him." My father reached down and lifted me to my feet. "Go to bed. If the Martians come, we'll hear their death rays." "Okay." I walked inside the house up to my bedroom. My brother was asleep. I laid in bed and joined him, dreaming of the stars. One day they would be mine.
