Ms. Obama's BBQ Fetish

The South has been a GOP stronghold ever since the passage of the 1965 Civil Rights Act. President Obama broke their monopoly in the 2008 with victories in Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida. The Democrats seeking to broaden their appeal in Dixie appointed Charlotte, North Carolina to hold their 2012 convention. Their opponents guffawed at this attempt to invade their voting bloc and then ridiculed the First Lady for declaring that she was looking forward to eating some of the great BBQ in Piedmont city.

Her critics attacked Michelle Obama both for her supposed misunderstanding of Charlotte's BBQ heritage and also the dietary dangers of a BBQ dinner. The Fox News website crowed on its blog, "Studies show a barbecue meal weighs in at around 2,500 calories."

BBQ is not part of the low-calorie diet, but there's nothing wrong with excess in moderation and more importantly Charlotte has plenty of BBQ pits within the city boundaries, such as Bubba's Barbecue, McKoy's Smokehouse & Saloon, Smokey Bones Barbeque & Grill, Bar-B-Q King, Sonny's Real Pit Bar-B-Q and Hog Heaven Barbeque.

Maybe those BBQ ain't white enough for Fox News and the GOP, plus ain't nothing the Obamas can do right.

Except fuck up.

And they don't eat no white trash BBQ.

The Icy Reign of Cold

A vast number of Americans are beyond skepticism about Global Warming and this winter's arctic weather has supported their claim that the Man's actions has no effect of the climate. Their collective memory can't recapture the drought in Russia or the long heatwave in the Midwest. Time only exists in the present and the present is cold everywhere in the continental USA except for Florida and the Pacific Rim.

Chicago was buried by an epic snowstorm. Natural gas reserves are dangerously low in the Far West, as the population deals with sub-zero temperatures. Power outages are sweeping across the states and the GOP are quick to blame President Obama for the fuel crisis and every other problem associated with the weather.

Snow collapse a roof on 85,000 chickens.

Obama did it.

100 Greyhound passengers stranded in Denver.

It's Obama's fault.

Violent snowball fight.

Blame everything on the Nigger.

It's the American Way, but it's better him than me.

Colder Than A Witch's Teat

Boston and New York survived the snowstorms of January. This month could be worse. Snow covers most of the USA. A frozen tundra, but humor still exists in the land of the ice and snow as exhibited in the weather chart emailed by my brother-in-law.

In the end all we have is our humor.

And the Cold until the distant Spring.

Only 6 more weeks according to the groundhogs.

It can not come too soon.

A Celtics Fan Drinks in Brooklyn

The Celtics are playing great basketball. Tonight they face the Dallas Mavericks, one of the better teams in the West. I'll be watching the game at Frank's Lounge on Fulton Street. You'll be able to recognize me by my colors.

Maria Schneider RIP

LAST TANGO IN PARIS was the hottest film of 1972 this side of the XXX hits DEEP THROAT and BEHIND THE GREEN DOOR. Audiences were enthralled by the full-frontal nude scenes between the cinema icon Marlon Brando and the lithe ingenue Maria Schneider. The young actress was a protege of Brigitte Bardot. Nothing in the script had forewarned the 20 year-old about an improvised sex duet with Brando during which he greased her naked flesh with butter in preparation for anal sex.

The sex was faked, but Schneider’s tears were real, for in her words, “I felt humiliated and to be honest, I felt a little raped, both by Marlon and by Bertolucci. After the scene, Marlon didn’t console me or apologize. Thankfully, there was just one take.”

Her salary for the entire film was $4000.

No one paid Schneider for the everlasting infamy, for LAST TANGO IN PARIS enraged audiences around the world. New York critics labelled the film ‘pornography’. Protesters fought with movie-goers in New Jersey and church leaders descried the film the end of morality. The director and Brando were awarded Oscars for LAST TANGO, despite the controversy. Few people worried about the effects of Bertolucci’s brutal treatment of his lead actress.

Schneider struggled throughout the 70s with by drug addiction, overdoses, and a suicide attempt. She was lucky to have survived that period and her career lasted into the 90s, although the Frenchwoman never attained the acclaim of LAST TANGO IN PARIS. I saw the film at the Orson Welles Theater. I fantasized about sex with Maria Schneider for months, even after she declared herself as bisexual. Actually that statement might have rekindled my interests, however our paths never crossed in the following decades. I mourn her passing and hope that she is at rest.

Her beauty will be another light in the stars.

Palm Beach Funerals

Several years ago friend was invited to the funeral of her ex-husband’s brother. Alice had spent 18 years with her ex. After contemplating the various scenarios, she deigned to send flowers as her representative at the wake.
