Gowanus Dumpster Pool

In the summer of 2009 Macro Sea filled two dumpsters with water and opened the Gowanus Canal swimming hole. Jocko Weyland, one the the minds behind the pools, invited me to the opening and I planned on leaping off a nearby roof into the water.

Jocko didn't think this was a good idea.

"It's not that deep."

"We'll see." I had jumped off the cliffs of the Quincy Quarries and various bridges around the world as well as piers and docks.

That evening we arrived at the site.

One look at the dumpster and I bailed on my feat.

There were no children allowed after dark, I went swimming naked.

Several women joined me.

It was good to be free in a city of so many restraints.

Thanks to Danny Tinneny, whose idea created the dumpster pools.

The Good Russian Boris

On August 18, 1991 Boris Yeltsin and his backers was under siege at the Moscow parliament. The old commies were staging an armed coup to oust Gobarchov's successor. He drank a bottle of vodka and confronted the rebel soliders in tanks. They listened to his passionate plea from Rodina and did not fire on the besieged reformers.

What a hero.

The Great One - Jackie Gleason

If you have it and you know you have it, then you have it. If you have it and don't know you have it, you don't have it. If you don't have it but you think you have it, then you have it.

Camera Hog From St. Landry's Parish LA

Cops like playing tough and cop whores love fucking tough cops. White men fantasize about tough cops protect them from the chaos of anarchy and few cops act tougher than Louisiana St. Landry's Lt. Clay Higgins. His videos on enforcing the law in Cajun country have gone viral on Youtube and even TV's Jimmie Fallon has exclaimed that the ex-Army veteran should run for president on the basis of his weekly Crime Stoppers, which has earned him the moniker the Cajun John Wayne.

On April 9 Higgins peered into the camera to inform Ladarious Young to turn himself in to “start to make things right. You can’t run from your own guilt, son. You can’t hide from what you’ve done, and you’ll never escape … the long arm of the law."

The next day Ladarious Young surrendered himself to the sheriff for various crimes around the parish.

This all sounds good, except St. Landry's has the 7th highest crime rate in the USA. Landry's no joke. He protects the people of his parish working the night shift on his lonesome.

His biggest video hit comes from his response to a burglary of his favorite eating establishment, Stelly’s Supermarket in the tiny town of Lebeau, La., the scene of a recent burglary.

“The sheriff likes Stelly’s restaurant, and so do I. The food here is good, and the folks are friendly. We are going to identify you, arrest you and put you in a small cell. After that I’m going to have a cheeseburger here with fries and a Coke and leave a nice tip for the waitress.” He steps forward to threaten the perp, “Meanwhile your next meal will be served through a small hole in a cell door.”

The criminal has yet to be apprehended and while his rants are a good act, I suggest that he might be better spending more time behind the wheel of his cruiser than in front of a camera, then again Lt. Landry works the night shift and that's the witching hour everywhere in the world.

Roll safe and be just.

Ship Of Buffoons

This Thursday the GOP will kick off their 2016 Presidential Campaign. Fox News has narrowed down the field from 24 to 10, although the lower echelon candidates such as George Pataki, Bobby Jindal, Carly Fiorin and Lindsey Graham will be allowed a few minutes airtime before the main event on this coming Thursday.

WHO'S IN Donald Trump, real-estate magnate: 20.8% average as of Saturday Scott Walker, Wisconsin governor: 13.7% Jeb Bush, former Florida governor: 12.2% Marco Rubio, US senator from Florida: 6.8% Mike Huckabee, former Arkansas governor: 6.3% Ben Carson, retired neurosurgeon: 6.2% Rand Paul, US senator from Kentucky: 5.5% Ted Cruz, US senator from Texas: 5.2% John Kasich, Ohio governor: 3.5%. Chris Christie, New Jersey governor.

Rick Perry is on the cusp, although Donald Trump accused the former Texas governor of not looking smrt with his glasses.

The billionaire hasn't spared the other candidates from insult, but his obstreperous behavior has won him favor with the GOP faithful.

I will watch the debate to hear the fools attempt to roll back time to the 1950s, when the white race ruled the country with an iron fist.

Personally would rather vote for this woman.

I'm sure she'll make more sense than any of the GOP contenders.

Everlasting Snow

The temperatures in New York are hovering under the 90s and a pleasant breeze is cooling the populace of Fort Greene. This last week I ditched my Christmas tree 'Ole Tree' for fear of the dried pine needles combusting into flames and burning down my landlord's brownstone, but I well remember the winter of 2014-2015 and not because the New England Patriots won the Super Bowl in January.

At one point last winter it snowed in every one of the 48 Lower States, even someplace in Florida's Panhandle. Some band of drunken merrymakers erected a huge snowman in Chinatown across from the 169 Bar.

Buffalo and Boston were particularly hard hit by blizzards. My aunt and uncle in Marblehead to the north of the Mystic River reported the melting of the last snow in late-April, however this week the new media announced that the remnants of several gigantic snow pile in Buffalo had lasted throughout the summer.

"Winter is coming" has been spoken by many characters in THE GAME OF THRONES.

The other day I spotted with Santa Claus outfit on the sidewalk.

Winter didn't come soon enough to save him from evaporation, but it's only four more months to the season of good sledding, so enjoy the heat, because the cold was very cold last winter and I expect more of the same.
