US Embassy in UK Slumming

The USA has decided to move out of its UK embassy in Grosvenor Square supposedly to protect the diplomatic staff from a possible al-Qaida bombing and the present American ambassador to Britain has stated that the present grounds will go on the market "almost immediately."

The move to the industrial squalor south of the Thames will have to meet approval by Congress, but the sale of the 999-year Mayfair lease is expected to garner to coffers of the US Treasury enough money to run the Iraq War for approximately 4 days. The Court of St. James has always been a prestigious posting and the ambassador blithely said that they were happy to regenerate that neglected part of London with the new embassy.

"After all we will have a river view."

But not much majesty in the New World Order.
