Hawaii's Missile Threat

Published 2009

North Korea launched a Taepodong-2 rocket in the general direction on Hawaii. No sirens sounded in Pearl Harbor. The missile failed to achieve orbit, although the hardline worker state crowed about their propaganda "victory" on state TV and the state organ newspaper declared the test as a "historic event that sounded the cannon's roar of victory in building a great, prosperous, powerful nation."

President Obama was quick to threaten North Korea with a scathing rebuke from the UN Security Council, except African guest member Burkina Faso balked at criticizing the hermit state at the behest of its patrons, China and Russia.

GW Bush at the opening day of the Texas Rangers baseball game wasn't available for comment, for after his eight years as leader American school children no longer have hide under their desks in the event of a missile attack.

At 56 I can recall the nuns of St. Mary of the Foothill telling us to pray for our eternal souls during nuclear bomb attack tests.

"God will welcome you."

The Sisters of St. Joseph never indicated whether that welcome was to heaven or hell.

Ecological Footprint

Donald Trump blathered on how much a threat North Korea is to the world. Their danger to world peace is graphically revealed by a satellite photo of the hermit nation.

South Korea had bright cities.

North Korea? My Christmas tree had more lights.

So basically the most dangerous country on the globe is ecologically sound.

What about my ecological footprint? I live in brooklyn, recycle, eat fresh food, exercise, pick up plastic at the beach, bike, and drink beer. Air-conditioning can't be too green, then again I sleep with a fan.

There was only one way to find out.

The Happy Planet Index.

This website tests your compatibility of your environment through a series of questions about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Multiple choice.

Completely anonymous.

First question is about your place of residence.

USA with 3% of the world population consuming 25% of the energy is a solid 18.

Yesterday I scored 82 which is close to the ideal HPI. Today's 64 is on par with #37 Columbia. Cocaine makes happy faces. Civil War who cares?

 My life expectancy is 80.

My ecological footprint is level with #162 Botswana

Guess I'm a tree hugger or consumer deprived.

Everything else was above average.

So I guess life isn't so bad for the moment. Let's hope I keep it that way.

HAPPY PLANET INDEX Test

One more thing North Korea isn't listed in the Happy Planet Index.

# 45 = Asshole

Donald Trump had not taken off Labor Day Weekend.

# 45 has vowed to retaliate against North Korea with massive force, if the Hermit Nation dares to threaten the USA.

His Treasury Secretary has said that any expenditure to aid those affected by Hurricane Harvey needs to offset by cuts to other programs.

The estimated cost of the clean-up has been estimated to be $180 billion.

At a Houston shelter he said he had 'big hands'. Prostitutes have said he has small hands and and even smaller penis.

And lastly # 45 will appoint a coal executive to oversee the safety of the mining industry. Zatezalo, the former CEO of Rhino Resources, has a horrible record protecting miners, but what else can you expect from Fatso Trump.

# 45 means asshole and the asshole has another day to ruin this weekend.

Golfing hopefully rather than tweeting to nuke North Korea.

Target Guam

North Korea's nuclear strike capacity has improved greatly over the past ten years.

In 2006 the Hermit Kingdom announced a successful nuclear explosion. Pacific Rim nations have attempted negotiations with the hardline Communist dictatorship. Kim Il-sung and his youngest son Kim Jong-un have confounded diplomats attempting a negotiated settlement to curtail North Korea's developing more powerful weapons of mass destruction. Talk is futile and China, North Korea's trading partner, has been silent on the matter.

This week Kim Jong-un stated that North Korea will conduct a missile test aimed at Guam, a US territory in the Pacific. The island's residents have been warned not to look into the blast flash. President Trump has promised that the US military is ready to strike with the full force of its might and Japan has upgrade their defense status. China has said it will defend North Korea against any preemptive attack, but will remain neutral, if North Korea hits Guam.

People are scared.

They think WWIII is about to happen.

Personally I think nothing will occur.

Hitting North Korea's missile sites is no walk in the park.

They are well-protected.

Invasion is out of the question.

A bloody war involving millions is not an option.

However #45's political base is itching for a fight.

And the Pentagon has been planning this war forever.

"We can win."

Obviously none of them learned anything from Afghanistan

RESIST THE WAR

It only leads to ruins.

Supreme Snow Lord

Last week North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un executed his uncle for treason. His crimes included not applauding his nephew with enthusiasm. Jang Song-Thaek was killed by a machine gun firing squad after the state media had declared that "despicable human scum Jang, who was worse than a dog, perpetrated thrice-cursed acts of treachery in betrayal of such profound trust and warmest paternal love shown by the party and the leader for him."

The execution was condemned by foreign governments.

"While we cannot independently verify this development, we have no reason to doubt the official KCNA report that Jang Song Thaek has been executed. If confirmed, this is another example of the extreme brutality of the North Korean regime." was the USA response without ant mention of a drone strike on a Yemen wedding party.

Meanwhile North Korea's Supreme Leader spent today touring the country's ski project at Masik Pass.

There are no ski lifts.

There is no snow.

North Korea has 5500 skiers out of 24 million people.

Even less people play hockey.

Kim Jong-Un is not one of them.

Gong-gyeog, Gong-gyeog, Gong-gyeog

My mother loved the Pearl Harbor movie TORA TORA TORA. TORA TORA TORA meant 'attack attack attack' in Japanese. Gong-gyeog, Gong-gyeog, Gong-gyeog translates the same in Korean. This week North Korea has suggested to Russia and the UK that they abandon their diplomatic missions in Pyongyang before April 10, stating that the government will not be able to safeguard the embassy after that date. Nations neighboring the communist state are weighing the threat level to their countries. South Korea has sent two Aegis missile destroyers to sea, as the North Korea transported two mobile launchers to a secret site on the the eastern coast. Most rational minds understand that Kim Jong Un's strike capacity is strictly conventional, since the NK ICBMs cannot deliver a nuclear warhead. Most observers agree that the Supreme Leader's bellicose statements are designed at cementing the people behind his regime. China's patience with its long-time ally once "as close as lips and teeth" is wearing thin according to the Telegraph and states that North Korea no longer merits much respect among ordinary Chinese, who have taken to insulting Kim Jong-un as "Fatty Kim" or "Fatty the Third", in reference to his father and grandfather, on the Chinese internet. Fidel Castro has urged calm, although Beyonce and JayZ, America's # 1 pop couple are in Cuba this week. North Korea has no plans to attack the island 90 miles south of Key West. Maybe they are privy to something the rest of us don't know after speaking with Dennis Rodman, who was in North Korea talking basketball with Kim Jong Un. Didn't he go out with Madonna. See below for the range of North Korea's missiles

Too Far For North Korea

According to the BBC UN chief Ban Ki-moon has said the North Korea "crisis has gone too far" after Pyongyang announced plans to restart its main Yongbyon nuclear complex. In late-February ex-Laker and Piston rebounder Dennis Rodman paid a visit to North Korea. The retired basketball star met with Kim Jong-un to discuss basketball and said on ABC's THIS WEEK, "He asked me to give Obama something to say and do one thing. He wants Obama to do one thing, call him." The phone call was never made. Last week North Korea declared that it was still at war with its southern neighbor and threatened to attack Hawaii, Washington DC, Los Angeles and Austin, Texas, even though his missiles only have a range of 5000 miles, putting the Aleutian Islands in danger. The US Navy has positioned a guided-missile destroyer off the Korean peninsula and the US Air Force has stationed a pair of sleath fighters as a show of force. The rogue nation ratcheted up its rhetoric and yesterday said that they were restarting their nuclear program. China has responded to the war talk by conducting Level-One war exercises on the Yalu River, while South Korea's military has vowed to defend the country by any means at hand. Winston Churchill said, "Better to jaw-jaw than war-war." and my hunch is that North Korea has run out of funds. This war threat might well be blackmail with a little basketball diplomacy on the side. There's no telling with Dennis Rodman on the court. I didn't have an Easter Break, but went through Easter Broke.
