Italians 2020

Italian Sandwich from Maine

At David Henderson's Williamsburg Sculpture studio. They are only made in Southern Maine. Ham, tomatoes, pickles, onions, olives, cheap cheese and peppers. Lunch for the workers in the mills along the Saco River. Now almost extinct thanks to fast food chains, although in 2020 David brought two from Scarborough. Most excellent. I fake them with a baguette. Close but nothing like the real thing.

Nowadays the end of 2024 no vino no veritas no oblivio, but occasionally Italians. North of the Saco River.

Kate Teale - David Henderson Opening - May 1

I love both their works.

I'll be there at 1 PM.

If permitted I might blather about Art.

"Art is a good name for a man." Andy Warhol.

Ice Cream In Winter

From Dave Henderson

The most coherent explanation for global warming I have ever heard. Courtesy of Mr Peter Nolan Smith

"People have abandoned the Bible and now are going to hell in record numbers. Most American sinners are fat. Fat people burn hotter. Hell is hotter. The earth is hotter. Pure science."

Even ice cream melts in hell.

Colussus By David Henderson

Dead artists rule the art market. Picasso, Dali, Warhol go for millions. The wealthy buyers feel safe spending money on bona fide masterpieces, because they don't have the time to develop passion about living painters, sculpturers, or writers.

I'm dead broke.

My wallet has $20 in it.

My refrigerator has food and two beers.

For today I'm okay and I spent time seeing Dave Henderson's sculptures at Valentine Gallery in Ridgewood, Queens.

Dave's sublime tapering of his carbon-fiber cones has catapulted him high in my esteem over the last years.

To see his work and that of Patricia Satterlee and Jude Talliches, trek out to Valentine at 464 Seneca Ave, in Ridgewood, Queens. The show will be up through March 9.
