My friend Peter Gore and I were driving north from Boston in my VW. It was 1973. Midnight. We were tripping on Sunshine. BRANDI was playing on the radio. My headlights caught a woman hitchhiking by the side of the road. Red dress and leather jacket. One shoe in her hand. The heel was broken. We stopped for her and she said that she was leaving her bastard husband. We gave her a ride to Gloucester and she dropped LSD with us. Sunset brought tears to our eyes. We became friends. I never asked her name. She was always Brandi. She was a fine girl.
