On A Clear Day - 2012

Almost sixty years ago weather conditions over London blanketed the city with a damp toxic fog of coal dust. The gray air was thick with choking carbon particles. Visibility was dropped to one foot in the Stygian gloom. Thousands fatally succumbed to respiratory ailments with hundreds of thousands suffering severe breathing difficulties throughout that December.

According to Wikipedia the roads were blocked by abandoned cars. Midday concerts were cancelled due to total darkness. Archivists at the British Museum found smog lurking in the book stacks. Cattle in the city's Smithfield market were killed and thrown away before they could be slaughtered and sold — their lungs were black.

On the second day of the smog, Saturday, Dec. 6, 500 people died in London. When the ambulances stopped running, thousands of gasping Londoners walked through the smog to the city's hospitals.

The lips of the dying were blue. Heavy smoking and chronic exposure to pollution had already weakened the lungs of those who fell ill during the smog. Particulates and acids in the killer brew finished the job by triggering massive inflammations. In essence, the dead had suffocated.

Some 900 more people died on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1952. Then the wind swept in unexpectedly. The killer fog vanished as quickly as it had arrived.

This disaster forced the British government and the energy companies to seek out cleaner alternatives to deadly coal, but the GOP political machine have attacked the Clean Air Act and EPA for restricting coal mining in America and the chairman of the Ohio Coal Association has claimed that coal production has dropped from 1.2 trillion tons per annum to about 816 million tons in black coal country, but a good percentage of that drop-off has come from the lack of economic activity during the Second Depression.

Mitt Romney's running mate Paul Ryan doesn't see it that way and has said, "The one thing you can do is elect a man named Mitt Romney who will end this war on coal and allow us to keep these good paying jobs."

As an easterner who has had to breathe coal dust most of his life, all I can say is "Fuck you and fuck Big Coal."

I am a simple man.

Coal is dirty. It will never be clean. The coal companies want to rip off the top of mountains and poison the air we breathe.

In 1948 hundreds of people died in Donora, PA during a cold weather inversion, but the various industries in the valley refused to shut down operations, calling the conditions an 'act of God'.

They never named which one and neither has Mitt Romney with his calls for more coal.

"Burn, baby, burn."

It is good for capitalism.

Trafalgar Square 1952 - the year of my birth 5-29-1952. I recall none of it.

I Want To See Peace

In 1968 Richard Nixon beat Hubert Humphrey by campaigning for the end of the Viet-Nam War. During his inaugural speech Nixon said, "The greatest honor history can bestow is the title of peacemaker." The War lasted another seven years. As many troops died under his leadership as all the previous presidents going back to Eisenhower. Even worse millions of Vietnamese civilians died along with hundreds of thousands in Laos and Cambodia and secret recording between the president and his war-criminal Secretary of State Henry Kissinger revealed Nixon's true heart, when he said, "The only place where you and I disagree ... is with regard to the bombing. You're so goddamned concerned about civilians and I don't give a damn. I don't care." Two nights ago Mitt Romney announced at the presidential debate that he wanted peace for Iran and the USA, despite having repeatedly called for stronger measures than those provided by President Obama, thus flummocking a good percentage of those stupid as a bucket of mud undecided voters that he was not going to lead us into Armageddon to save Israel. "I want to see peace." Mitt is up in the polls. He's a peacenik. But he's the same slick haired motherfuckers as that Quaker Nixon. Say anything to get where he wants to go. In other words, "I don't care."

Mitt Is White

My friend posted this photo and her friend replied, "I'm voting for Romney. Does that make me a racist? Is that what you are trying to say? How many people that voted/will vote for Obama did so simply because he is black? Is that racist? Such hypocrisy and phony outrage... why don't you find something real to complain about?" I got on his case immediately "You are voting for what you believe will help America. Yhat is your electoral right, however I have children of color. I see racism in this country and others all the time. My ancestors fought a war within this country. It was not to re-install slavery, even though Maine remains one of the whitest states in the unio plus what I don't like about dog-minded MFs like this clown is that they have no fucking sense of humor. My friend's friend replied, "I don't understand any of what you just said. I too see racism; some from whites and just as much from blacks and latinos- anyone who would vote or make a decision based on a person's race is in fact a racist. it is not just a white problem. This pic insinuates that just being a romney supporter makes you racist, and that is stupid, ignorant and probably itself racist." I had to ask. "Don't you drink at nigh or are you living in a dry town? ps ted nugent sucks I am really not into Mitt fucking Romney.

Keep America America

Mitt Romney has been accused on quoting the KKK motto 'Keep America American' in a 2011 speech in Iowa. The LA Times corrected this error with a retraction stating that Romney had actually said 'Keep America America'. Easy to say, but in the Mitt Romney 2012 Campaign Ad, there isn't a single person on color ie black, chinese, latino, indian other than the well tanned Mitt. If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, and sounds like a duck, then it's a duck. To see Mitt Romney 2012 Campaign Ad, please go to the following URL; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26AMgycOWoU

Flying With The Windows Down

Last Monday a small electrical fire forced the airplane carrying Mitt Romney's wife to make an emergency landing in Denver. The passengers escaped from the stricken jet without injury and later on stage at a political rally the GOP presidential candidate expressed his relief that his wife was safe and then said, “When you have a fire in an aircraft, there’s no place to go, exactly. And you can’t find any oxygen from outside the aircraft to get in the aircraft, because the windows don’t open. I don’t know why they don’t do that. It’s a real problem.” People scratched their heads in wonderment, for the passenger fuselage is pressurized to allow the plane to travel through the oxygen-thin upper atmosphere. Later on the Jay Leno Show Ann Romney said he was joking about the windows, but the real reason he wants the window to roll down was so that he can visit his dog strapped to the fuselage. To see him speak on this matter, please go to the following URL; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ws_s38QmxM

Vote With Your Life In Mind

"Well, we do provide care for people who don't have insurance ... if someone has a heart attack, they don't sit in their apartment and — and die. We pick them up in an ambulance, and take them to the hospital and give them care. And different states have different ways of providing for that care." Mitt Romney last week on TV. Health care is about keeping healthy people healthy. It's cheaper that way.

Make My Way

Earlier this month Clint Eastwood announced his support for Mitt Romney and the Hollywood icon appeared on stage of the Tampa Convention Center with a chair. The actor/director/producer pretended to speak with an invisible Barack Obama, accusing him of creating 23 million unemployed, even though the US Department of Labor puts the number at 13 million, which is way too many, especially when many of those are underpaid by WalMart and the Pentagon. Clint went on to harangue the chair about Gitmo. "Well, I know even people in your own party were very disappointed when you didn’t close Gitmo. And I thought, well closing Gitmo -- why close that, we spent so much money on it. But, I thought maybe as an excuse -- what do you mean shut up?" And then he brought up the tears shed on the night of Obama's election. "I remember three and a half years ago, when Mr. Obama won the election. And though I was not a big supporter, I was watching that night when he was having that thing and they were talking about hope and change and they were talking about, yes we can, and it was dark outdoors, and it was nice, and people were lighting candles. They were saying, I just thought, this was great. Everybody is trying, Oprah was crying." Liberal pundits likened the hemhawing monologue to that of a rant by Homer Simpson's father, but the star of EVERY WHICH WAY BUT LOOSE pleased the audience with his humor and heartfelt anger with our president. And for one time in the GOP convention someone said bring back the troops from Afghanistan. "I know you were against the war in Iraq, and that’s okay. But you thought the war in Afghanistan was OK. You know, I mean -- you thought that was something worth doing. We didn’t check with the Russians to see how did it -- they did there for 10 years. I think Mr. Romney asked the only sensible question, you know, he says, “Why are you giving the date out now? Why don’t you just bring them home tomorrow morning?” I agree that the troops should come home tomorrow, but it's harder to stop the Pentagon from wagign a war than drag me out of a party when there's still booze to be drunk. Clint, you're still the man on screen, but anyone who says he's a pal of Jon Voight aint' playing with the full deck of marbles. To view Clint's speech, please go to the following URL and decide for yourself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoqKdWY692k

DoomsDay On Its Way

Last week Iran marked Defence Industry Day with the unveiling of a new accuracy of short-range defensive missiles with the range of 300 kilometers. The distance between Tehran and Jerusalem is 1561 km or 970 miles. The Aerospace Force of the Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution has several rockets capable of greater distances such as the Fajr-3, Shahab-3, and Ghadr-110, although military experts question whether the Iranians are overstating the capabilities of these weapons a la Saddam of Iraq. For days ago the Iranian president stated that Israel's existence is an "insult to all humanity." Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to this statement by admitting that Israel is ready to strike at Iran, despite President Shimon Peres saying that Israel could not “go it alone” and should depend on the US when dealing with Iran and the head of the Labor Party said, “The entire Iran debate is reckless, truly reckless." Harratx reported that Israeli Defense officials have visit with the ultra-Orthodox Shas party's spiritual leader, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, to discuss a possible Israeli attack on Iran. The 91 year-old rabbi is reputed to be against such an aggressive posture, but also told his followers over the radio, "You know what situation we're in, there are evil people, Iran, about to destroy us. ... We must pray before [the almighty] with all our heart." "Torah Torah Torah." The attack depends entirely on US support, for the Israeli Air Force cannot attack Iran without re-fueling from US tanker planes, but Netanyahu is pressing for action before the US election to force Obama from office and even called for the President to come to Israel to pledge his support for an assault on Iran. The Jerusalem Post quoted Iranian Defense Minister Brig. Gen. Ahmad Vahidi, who said on Monday that Israelis were "afraid of their own shadow (and are ) therefore trying to control this disappointing atmosphere by brouhaha and psychological warfare, but should know that propaganda will not resolve their problems." The Jerusalem Post came out against the attack; see url http://www.jpost.com/Opinion/Columnists/Article.aspx?id=281943 Smoke and mirrors can reflect whatever the illusionist wants to project to his audience, if the crowd are sufficiently prepared to accept a mirage. ps Mitt Romney has entered the fray by saying, “As I said recently when visiting Jerusalem, ‘We have seen the horrors of history. We will not stand by. We will not watch them play out again.” Torah torah torah indeed.

Beerability

Supposedly after his 1989 defeat in the NYC mayoralty race by David Dinkins, Rudy Guiliani supposedly asked his wife in tears, "Do people really not like me?" The answer was yes, however four years later the ex-federal prosecutor conducted a campaign promising to clean up New York by having the police wage war against petty crimes "It's the street tax paid to drunks and panhandlers. It's the squeegee men shaking down the motorist waiting at a light. It's the trash storms, the swirling mass of garbage left by peddlers and panhandlers, and open-air drug bazaars on unclean streets." Guiliani didn't have to be a nice man to be mayor in the 90s. People wanted the streets cleaned of crime and to this day many New Yorkers attribute his reign of law and order as the catalyst revitalizing Manhattan as the center of wealth. Paul Ryan the GOP Vice-Presidential candidate for 2012 is considered a likable fellow by his supporters, however no one has yet to see him holding a beer unlike Barack Obama, GW Bush, Bill Clinton, George Bush Senior, and Ronald Reagan. There are no photos of Jimmy Carter with a beer in his hand, although his younger brother came out with Billy Beer. Willard Romney as a Mormon is Taliban strict about beer, wine, and spirits. He is no fun at a barbecue or anywhere else and Silversun Pickups caught the fever this week by telling the presidential nominee to desist in using their hit song PANIC SWITCH for his rallies. Paul Ryan also suffered a lambasting from the guitarist of his favorite bands Rage Against The Machine. Tom Morello blasts him for having rage, but rage against "rage against women, a rage against immigrants, a rage against workers, a rage against gays, a rage against the poor, a rage against the environment." Yes, Paul, people really don't like you. And Mitt, the same goes for you. ps there are no images of Rudy Guiliani drinking beer. Only him getting dragged out in a dress. Different folks, different strokes.

USA USA UTAH

In the early 1960s Mitt Romney served as the jock strap manager for the Cranbrook Prep ice hockey team and ran cross country as a senior without finishing in the top five to score. In 1966 his studies at Stanford were postponed for the traditional Mormon mission to pagan France. LDS strictures banning drinking and smoking were not big sellers to the French and he was roughed up by two rubgy players, who were harassing female Mormon missionaries. Transferring to Brigham Young University young Mitt once more restrained himself from any participation in sports, but graduated with honors in English. I googled 'mitt romney throwing a baseball' without finding any images of the GOP candidate even holding a baseball, but that's not to say that ex-governor Romney doesn't like sports. His wife has a horse entered in the Olympics dressage competition. The transport and keep of their steed is paid by the US Olympic Committee. Mitt was the prime mover behind the 2002 Winter Games in Utah. People in high places are good at taking care of their own.

Outlaw Josie Wales Speaks

I have long been a Clint Eastwood fan and consider THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY one of the greatest films of all time, but I was disappointed to read online that the Oscar-winning director/actor had endorsed the GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Eastwood cited to AP, "I think the country needs a boost." while asserting that he was not "politically affiliated" with the president. Romney swooned at the news and said, "He just made my day." referring to Eastwood's famous line from the 1983 film SUDDEN IMPACT. Eastwood further stated that Romney would restore "a decent tax system that we need badly ... so that there's a fairness and people are not pitted against one another as who's paying taxes and who isn't." Romney still has yet to release his tax returns, which according to Nevada Senator Harry Reid and a CNN reporter will show that the candidate hadn't paid any taxes from 2000 to 2009. Romney reputed this claim by stating during a campaign stop in Las Vegas, "Let me also say categorically: I have paid taxes every year. A lot of taxes. A lot of taxes." God bless you, Josie Wales. The ex-governor's 2010 return revealed that Romney paid 13.9% on his capital gains, which is well below the top rate, and he promised that if elected, "I will not raise taxes on the American people." And if anyone knows how to not raisse taxes, it will be someone who doesn't pay any.

I Love London

Mitt Romney set off from America to visit the UK and Israel. Stopping in London to visit Prime Minister Cameron the GOP candidate, who supervised the 2002 Utah Winter Games, criticized the the London's Olympics by saying, "The stories about the private security firm not having enough people, the supposed strike of the immigration and customs officials -- that obviously is not something which is encouraging. Do they come together and celebrate the Olympic moment? And that's something which we only find out once the games actually begin." The British press and the PM were quick to respond to the slight with Cameron saying, "We are holding an Olympic Games in one of the busiest, most active, bustling cities anywhere in the world. Of course, it's easier if you hold an Olympic Games in the middle of nowhere." ie Utah = nowhere. And London Mayor Boris Johnson shouted out to a crowd of 60,000 in Hyde Park. "There is a guy called Mitt Romney who wants to know if we are ready. Yes, we are." In reality no they aren't, but they'll discover how much they aren't in the next few days.

Their Man Romney

GOP candidate Mitt Romney appeared on NBC to say the following about the Aurora shooter; "This person shouldn't have had any kind of weapons and bombs and other devices and it was illegal for him to have many of those things already. But he had them. And so we can sometimes hope that just changing the law will make all bad things go away. It won't." In actuality James Holmes bought his weapons in accordance with Colorado state gun laws. But not according to the man with the magic pajamas who didn't know when to shut his mouth. "I don't happen to believe that America needs new gun laws. A lot of what this ... young man did was clearly against the law. But the fact that it was against the law did not prevent it from happening."

Blacks For Romney

Barack Obama scored 96% of the African-American vote in 2008. His current challenger's religion has preached that the only blacks in heaven will be god-fearing slaves. Romney's aides have written off any effort to recruit one of the most solid bases of the Democrats, although one young John Jay student of law has formed the African Americans for Romney and his Facebook page has received over a hundred likes since the winter. Say it loud, I like Mitt and I'm proud. I don't think James Brown would agree, but then I'm not black, so my opinions on race are prejudiced by race traitorism.

Freedom Of No Speech

The 1948 UN Declaration of Human Rights sought to guarantee that "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers" The First Amendment to the US Constitution protects Freedom of Speech, however Americans are free to speak on a very narrow path, as Joe Williams of Politico after saying about GOP presidential hopeful that Mitt Romney appeared 'very comfortable' around 'white folks'. Politico's editor ousted the black correspondent without recognizing the fact that the Romney campaign has no blacks in its campaign staff, although Mormons accept that blacks will be in heaven as slaves without any magic underwear. Politico stated that his MSNBC remark "fell short of our standards for fairness and judgment." Saying your mind is a sin in these times, especially if it challenges the truth of the right. American wasn't always this way. See the following video from the show NEWSROOM http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=eVwUphZ37Ww The truth will out.

Gay-O-Meter

According to Urban Dictionary a gay-o-meter is a word you can use when a straight person starts acting a little too homosexual. Example. Hank: OMG I love your hair! Bill: hey Hank I think u should turn your gayometer down a couple notches. Years ago I took the gay-o-meter test. I scored 33% I'm a little older now and went to the site offering the test. http://www.okcupid.com/tests/the-gay-o-meter-test This time I scored on the Bi/Asexual Chart 13 girl-gayness and 10 guy-gayness. So I'm more lesbian than gay. Oh Joy.
