No one in Iraq has seen a tourist since the 2003 invasion by the US-led Coalition of the Willing, but Fallujah police were surprised by the solo visit of an Italian traveler seeking the sights of the war-torn country. No one was sure what he really wanted to see, yet everyone agreed that the 31 year-old couldn't stay the night.
"There are no hotels."
US officials had no idea how the Italian entered the country.
But then who's surprised by that.
Iraqi merchants are getting ready for the surge of tourism now.
Where there is one there will be many.
