2bangkok.com always has some interesting information for Thailand and the world. This weekend they entered 'world's worst intersections onto the website.

Roads weren't built for speed.
In 1960 Boston claimed the Southeast Expressway wouldn't reach traffic capacity until 1990. Within a year the 6-lane highway was bumper-to-bumper at rush hour. That be said Bangkok motorways did wonders to alleviate cross-city congestion and you don't see anyone selling potable plastic potties for motorists stuck at the same red light for hours, however the traffic problems migrated south.
Five years ago Pattaya's population was half its present number. The increase in cars, trucks, and motorcycles has created various choke points throughout the beach resort, most prominently through the Marine Plaza canyon on 2nd Road. Slow, smog-clouded, and under-construction. A good twenty minutes to navigate a half-mile, however the worst intersection in the city is Soi Chaiyapoon and 3rd road. Not for congestion, but danger.
I see someone die there at least once a week at the Maggie May's end of the street.
So look not both ways, but every way and that includes up.
