Thaksin Echoes MacArthur's I SHALL RETURN

Thailand's deposed PM Thaksin Shinawatra left for a lecture tour in Japan followed by a visit to the Beijing Olympics's synchronized swimming competition, at which his wife will meet him after traveling to an undisclosed destination.

"We are not fleeing the country." The ex-Thai Rak Thai leader vows to fight his wife's conviction on tax evasion charges as well as his own legal fight over corruption issues.

"He will definitely be back. Do not think otherwise." His lawyer told the Thai Press. "On Aug 11, I will bring him to report to the Supreme Court."

The odds against Thaksin showing up in court are running 10-1 at the Poipet Casino.

Macao has it 11-1.

So betters place your bets.

The odds are also 3-1 that his good friend Lydia will accompany the semi-retired businessman to Tokyo.
