The USS aircraft carrier Abe Lincoln will anchor in a harbor near Pattaya to give the 6000-plus sailors a needed shore lave after many months fighting the War on Terror. Pattaya bars are gearing up for this visit by teaching their hostesses how to once more say. "Hey sexy."
Owners are hoping the swabbies will dump tons of money into the beach resort's moribund economy, however most of my female friends working the bars are a little less optimisitic about the effect of this invasion.
"Sailors cheap."
"Sailors not know nice."
"Sailors fight."
These girls are unwilling to take the risk with these sailors.
"Me not love them long time or short time." Ort tells me.
She only like Orientals.
"Send me Chinese sailor. Fast. Finish. Good money."
So anchors aweigh for Pattaya.
