For years I have heard people say, "If you can't do the time, then don't do the crime."
This stupid saying only pertains to poor people and sloppy criminals, since they can't afford a good lawyer to get them off with a slap on the wrist or delay the proceedings until the court settles for a lesser offense.
Still I do believe that if you commit a crime, then you know that one day you might be caught for said crime to face the music.
Wikileaks' Julian Assange is a hero to millions of anti-establishment for leaking millions of classified documents from governments and corporations involved in wrong-doings around the world, but in 2010 the Australian hacker was arrested for the rape of two woman companions in Sweden. Assange has been fighting extradition from the UK on the grounds that these charges are a ploy to get him back to Sweden, so he can be flown to the USA, where he will face espionage charges for the Private Bradley affair.
Two days ago Assange entered the Ecuadorian embassy in London seeking political asylum.
To his mind none of his actions have been a crime.
One thing for certain the Australian journalist doesn't want to pay the time.
Judges love to hear a defendant say, "I did nothing wrong."
Few statements sound more guilty than that.
