Thai Foreign Minister Calls It Quits

The Thai Foreign Minister resigned under pressure as the opposition attempts to harness the outrage over the present government ceding property adjacent to the Preah Vihar temple to Cambodia in order to expand a parking lot purportedly owned by supporters of the deposed PM Thaksin. This issue has polarized the former populist leader's bedrock support amongst the rice farmers of Isaan, a province bordering Cambodia and highlights the unsettled legitimacy of the Samak regime.

The foreign minister is a recent convert to Thaksinism, but had faithfully acted as a mouthpiece for Thaksin while he was in exile. Former allies haven't commented on his departure, although some say his resignation might signal fractures within the PPP coalition now ruling Thailand and some closer intimates suggest the Oxford graduate is distancing himself from the wide array of corruption charges facing his boss.

Noppadon is the second Thaksin supporter to be ousted from the cabinet in a week.

But not everything is bad news for Khun Thaksin as the Thai media reported that his daughter has become the wealthiest person in Thailand and old Sinatra Blue Eyes has to be proud of his daughter for that accomplishment.

And she's single, all you bachelors out there.

Bt19 billion (US$475 million) worth of corporate stock in her portfolio.

I'm just a gigolo.
