Pattani Truce Called Hoax

The killing and bombing in the South of Thailand have continued despite the call for a truce by the previously unknown Thailand United Southern Underground and former Thai military figures are doubting the group's claim of leadership over the Muslim insurgents.

"We have heard peace plans by the rebels ever since January 2004. Nothing but more death has come from these talks." said a former defense minister responsible for the pre-recorded video broadcast. "But this is a good sign and I'm confident the situation would improve compared to before."

While there has been positive identification of Malipeng Khan, a former separatist leader active from 1984-87, army staffers and human rights activists have called the video a hoax to inflate the government's failing popularity. PM Samak said he was surprised by the news.

I have to admit the two men's beards look about as fake as those of all the actors in GETTYSBURG and the supposed army reporter resembled the ex-Philippines Leader Jose Estrada. Once an actor before becoming a politician. He's dead, but might have come back for a taste of theater.

Old actors never die.
